Toronto-based David Lee has established a successful career as a vibrant, versatile and innovative artist working in photography, illustration and painting. As a freelance photographer, his revealing portraits of local and international entertainers (from Toronto's Handsome Ned and Sarah Harmer to celebrities; Michael Caine, Rene Zellwegger, Charlotte Rampling and Sinead O'Connor) have appeared in The Face, Saturday Night, Toronto Life, The Globe and Mail and most frequently, NOW Magazine. His urban landscape photographs (reminiscent of Garry Winogrand or Eggleston ) have been exhibited in local and national galleries including Tater/Alexander and Queen St. west’s CIRCA Gallery. His bold and colorful artwork is in both private and public collections, including the City of Toronto and the National Film board. His editorial illustrations can be seen regularly in THIS magazine. Business clientele includes major corporations such as CARA, Tridel, General Electric, Shopper's Drug Mart, Terra Footwear and CITY-TV and YTV. He graduated with an Honours Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba and has also worked as a medical graphic artist, a theatrical lighting director and in the photo department of the Winnipeg Art Gallery. He is an associate photographer with one of Canada’s leading wedding studios. Recently, he completed a large portrait commission for Pepsi Canada and is currently developing an interactive computer game.
